Has anyone seen this already.
I've watched the Kronos thread if this already was mentioned
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1nNmlKM9N4
I got this in my suggestion list and watched it and then.
At 1:06:00 Kurt Ader shows an app that is coming
near the end of this year what it does it duplicates
your Kronos screen so that everything is visualy a bit
bigger on the Ipad.
So if you have a bigger Ipad you can watch you're Kronos
on a big screen full screen.

Is this the same remote "editor" app that someone was working on a few years back?
I just hope it covers all of the Kronos' screen functions - editing on a large capacitive screen should make life a little easier
EDIT: Err... OK. So this *is* the editor that was supposed to be released 3 years ago - I guess we'll have to wait and see.

This ain't coming......
But, before everyone starts having a go at Kurt you might want to point the finger a bit closer to home - I've started 'similar' projects in the past between iOS and touchscreen peripherals and the biggest problem by far were the incessant iOS updates causing bugs, not to mention the odd OS or Firmware update - a project like this is a full time job; and I mean job as in 'occupation' - it's not just a case of keeping up to date with the screen 'widgets', the depth of the Kronos is phenomenal and each iOS update will bring new errors and bugs. It's a thankless task and something I think we'd only ever see from Korg themselves - and there must be a reason why no such application exists for anything else; there's nothing new about touch screens on keyboards after all.
I'm sure he can get it to work, supporting it would be an entirely different matter I think.

that makes complete sense.Schmooster wrote:But, before everyone starts having a go at Kurt you might want to point the finger a bit closer to home - I've started 'similar' projects in the past between iOS and touchscreen peripherals and the biggest problem by far were the incessant iOS updates causing bugs, not to mention the odd OS or Firmware update - a project like this is a full time job; and I mean job as in 'occupation' - it's not just a case of keeping up to date with the screen 'widgets', the depth of the Kronos is phenomenal and each iOS update will bring new errors and bugs. its not going to be an Apple vetted app. Looks like it will be a user beta type app. I am a wait and see kind of person.
I have a special interest in this app for different reasons. I am totally blind and have had my Kronos since November. The touch screen makes it impossible to do more than select sounds. I am hoping that I can open a dialogue with the developer to make this app compatible with the voiceover screen reader in the IPad and maybe even extend its functionality over time to fully edit from the IPad. Anybody know how to get in touch with this guy?

Kudos to the Kronos Remote app developers for at least making some functionalities more accessible via the iPad's larger display. It evens introduces some new functionalities. This from the Features page of the Kronos Remote app site:LZ wrote:There are applications like Duet that will replicate your computer screen on an iPad via USB connection. I know the Kronos OS is completely different, but I wonder if a better approach would be for Korg to include something like that to interface via USB to an existing iPad App like duet.
http://download.daniel-luscher.de/_kron ... /features/
But like you suggest, LZ, there might be alternative ways to accessing the Kronos display that in theory would be better. Awhile back Sharp posted a video where he had the Kronos editor pulled up on a Windows tablet... I've yet to try that method. What Kronos Remote CAN do:
Connect to your Kronos via USB cable or via Bluetooth
Provides a convenient zoomable and scrollable setlist view
Extended setlist mode keeps the setlist on the iPad and switch mode to Combi / Program / Song on the Kronos
Access realtime controls like pads or ribbon while in setlist mode
Access some common menu pages in Combi mode for easy editing
Keep the iPad as a second screen when editing in Combi mode, Kronos screen and iPad can display different menupages
Use the iPad in controller mode as a huge ribbon, XY Pad, Pad-surface…
What Kronos Remote MIGHT be able to do in the future (we’re not done developing):
Provide access to more pages in Combi mode
Provide parameter access in Program mode (like Combi mode today)
Provide basic access to Song mode, at least select presets
Provide preset selection by category
Extend the Kronos functionalities for a better programming workflow
Provide functions for sound backup and exchange
What Kronos Remote CAN NOT do:
Provide access to every Kronos menupage – the Kronos interface is just too deep and SysEx communication is limited
Provide access to special pages like disk or sampling mode – again it’s ‚just‘ a MIDI link which is technically limited
If I were a developer with a knack for the hardware side, what I'd personally do is find some way to hook up a second touchscreen to the Kronos's TouchView. Imagine a dongle that on one side connects to or splits off of the display output which leads to the TouchView display input, and on the other side provides a USB connection to which to connect any touchscreen tablet, including an iPad. You could then have immediate access to any page that the built-in Kronos touchscreen has access to, and all fast enough to use in a live context. And with a long enough USB cable extender, it would allow you to do long editing sessions on the Kronos without being uncomfortably hunched over the smaller Kronos screen...
