New Pitchblack Polyphonic

I'm happy generally with the Pichblack as a tuner, but if I change to one of the alternate tunings, Drop D for instance, I would expect it to tell me my E string was sharp. It shows a perfectly tuned E, not the note I need to tune to. Is this by design or am I doing something wrong?
