Kp3 screen controlled by SQ-1

Post by loudcloudbangpow »

Hello Korg-ionians,

I have a KP3 and I'm trying to control the touch pad via midi with the SQ-1. Has anyone tried this before? I've searched high and low and can't seem to find a single thing on the matter. All of my equipment is running the most current firmware and all of my midi chords are in fine working order.

I feel there might be a settings issue but I'm open to fresh thoughts.

Thanks!

HI loudcloudbangpow ,
What is it you are trying to do exactly?
The KP3 is an effect unity right. It does have 10 synths at the end ,Even so all X\Y movements on the touch surface are midi CCs -thats continuous controller info , not note on messages.
I haven't use SQ-1 but isnt that note pitch only - does it send midi CCs ?
The only note on msgs KP3 receives is for its four sample banks ABC&D .

I have a strong lead!

I just read about the Arduino and its midi shield capabilities...I'm getting it in the mail this weekend (hopefully) and once I assemble it, I'll be able to translate the midi from the SQ-1 to the midi shield and then back into the KP3.

If this works, it'll be a godsend to all wanting midi control on this device.

I'll post more soon
