Korg kronos X motherboard replacement part?

Post by Jorge G »

Hi All

I bought a Korg Kronos X about 4 years ago, and according to dealer here in Costa Rica looks like motherboard is damaged.

Do you know guys if the Korg Kronos X motherboard can be found on sale in a specific web site rather than reach korg directly?

My concern is that these motherboards are not even manufactured anymore but I am not 100% sure.

Any feedback or experience with it will be really appreciated.

I am not sure what may be available in your country.

About all I can suggest is eBay and there is a co named " Parts is Parts". Google will show them. Maybe they can be a source.

It would seem that the Korg distributor for your country should be helpful for service and parts. At least, thats the way its suppose to work.

The Kronos X used a standard Intel Mini-ITX motherboard, the D525MW...you can buy these on eBay for about $30 - $50 "pre-owned", or $80 - $100 new...

How you end thinking than the motherboard is broken? which were the simpthoms? you had crashes? rebooting? what tell you in the service?
I have this last month a few "turning off suddenly by itself problems" and I think is the motherboard but I dont know if you can purchase another mother and replace just like that, I think Korg uses a specific BIOS

I bought an Intel D510MO m'board so that I'd have a spare for my first-generation Kronos(s)...I asked Korg USA Customer Service if a custom BIOS was needed, and they replied, "The boards in the Kronos use the standard Intel BIOS."

Sorry for replying so late on this but I wasn't sure about my login here at page. Korg Latin America has disappointed me a lot as they never really were able to help me on this, like a whole year had to wait for parts that actually never came in. At the end one local electronic technician solved the situation. The idea now is to have this board as a spare part in case it fails in the future but I am not pretty sure if the BIOS has any customized configuration or something similar.

Warm Regards from Costa Rica!

Will that apply also for Korg Kronos X and newer generations?

They never were able to respond that appropriately, which concerned me a lot on that time. Not surprised that they are not korg official dealer here anymore.
