HELP. Can I downgrade from 2.0.1 back to 2.0?

Post by armandoromeu »

Something happened to my PA4X that became completely crazy and restarting nor resetting it didn't bring it back to normal, sounds became weird and started making strange noises and many odd things. I did a Factory Reset and re-loaded resources and it's now working more normal but the sounds are too bright and some piano notes sound weird and different.
I want to re-install my current OS 2.0.1 but I want to make sure I install it over a healthy OS2. Can I downgrade from 2.0.1 to 2.0 safely?

My understanding is that version 2.0.0 is a complete full install so I would try a clean install of V2

Just to be safe, get a fresh download copy of the installation files in case your previous one had any corruption.
(Do the same for V2.0.1)

Let us know how you go.

Cheers

If the issue you're describing concerns factory resources/sounds is not an OS issue and you definitely have to reload
V2 factory resources that also contain previous OS v.2 that you can't separately load since it's merged with resources !
- You don't have to re-download V2 update , Pa4X will suficiently verify the integrity of files while loading !
- After loading V2 sound resources, do not load any custom SET and check factory library sounds if are sounding properly ,
If still not then you face a hardware issue and you have to visit official service center !

Thank you Antony, and all you guys always ready to help.
I don't know if this have any relation but I'll mention it anyway and you'll let me know if it does.
All this problem started after I installed a new Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 audio interface to replace my old M-Audio FW-1814. Right after the installation of the hardware, and running the Mix Conrol program, that also installs the driver for this unit, it prompted me of the need to update the firmwareof the Saffire Pro 40. So I answered YES to the prompt and I was told not to turn anything off during this procedure. After it was finised I also had to restart both the computer and the Focusrite unit. My PA4X was on during all this procedure and I also turned it off to continue this setup the next day.
That's when the PA4X started to sound bad and make all those weird sounds.
I can't think of any relation since the firmware update should have been done through the firewire and there's no relation to the PA4X and this connection, but maybe you can clarify this to me and clear my doubts...

Only USB connection plus the Enable "ON" on your Pa4X could provide access to any software to harm your HD/System disk only !
Explore the already mentioned !

I feel I should be sent to a naughty corner with a donkey hat! I can't believe this have happened to me after so many years dealing with computers, audio midi and digital music. I did downgrade and upgrade again but now I know I didn't have to.
All my problem was caused by midi buffer overflows. Apparently when I installed the Audio Interface I must have pressed involuntarily the button that engage the midi thru on the small Midiman interface and all the midi data generated by the PA4X, specially playing the styles and such, was returning to the PA4X causing that crazy behavior and the weird sound of the piano voices was the result of double triggering the notes with the local on as all this happened while in stand alone mode.
Now I'm sure that age is passing me the bill as we say here!
Thank you guys for your willingness and helpful advises all the time. This is the greatest team I had known so far. Keep it up!
