Microkey 37 fails to start - no red light - works on Windows

Post by pjotr »

Hi,

I have a KORG Microkey 37, which used to work perfectly fine on my MacBook PRO. I've used it as midi controller for GarageBand.

Then - all of a sudden, I had no sound. GarageBand told me that the midi controller was disconnected, and the red light on the keyboard is off. The keyboard is connected with the ordinary USB cable, which worked perfectly fine for a few days ago.

Symptoms:
- No sound, no red light on keyboard
- Appears only as "USB2.0 HUB" on Mac System Info (do not know if it should show as MicroKey as well?)
- Not able to connect from KORG Kontrol Editor (worked fine before)
- Seems to work fine on another laptop with Windows 7 OS - appear as "Microkey" in device manager, and red light shows on keyboard

I've tried:
- Multiple reboots
- Multiple removal (from Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers) and reinstall of KORG drivers and KORG Kontrol Editor
- Another USB cable (connected directly to computer, in different USB ports)
- "Reset" of keyboard by holding down Octave UP/DOWN-buttons (no response)

Based on the fact that the keyboard starts when connecting to a Windows computer, I'll guess there is some driver- or software issue on my Mac.

Any tips on what it could be?
