KP2 and FCB1010 midi messages?

Hi all,
I've got a KP2 that I'd like to control via a Behringer FCB1010, I managed to program effect changes and I got the touch pad on/off to work so I can control the X & Y with the pedals.
Does anyone know if it's possible to start recording a sample by sending the KP2 a midi message? It seems like it might be, but the instructions online aren't clear and i'm a midi newbie!
I saw tutorials for the KP3 but maybe the KP2 doesn't have this capability?? Thanks!
