New user question: Media player

Post by Cybahous »

Hi I’m new to the M3, and I’m totally blown away with everything it can do. However, I’m struggling to find an easy way to play a media file such as .wav. I know I can’t play mp3 or similar files, but a few of our numbers have intros assisted by the keyboard by playing a short intro. Can I assign one of the pads per intro?

The M3 sampling system can be used to create samples that can then be played. This is done by creating a Program that uses those samples with the samples assigned to specific keys and/or the pads. The pads are set by default to send note messages corresponding to C2 to G2, so assigning the samples to any of these notes will play the samples from the pads. However, the same notes on the keyboard will also trigger those samples, so if you want to still use the full keyboard range, first assign the pads to notes outside the keyboard range. The M3 Operations Guide gives a detailed description of the sampling system.
