plugKey for iPad problem

Hi guys.
My plugKey (70€!) jinxes my iPad A1566 running iOS 12.1.3 from time to time.
Either loading via micro USB cable stops working or the machine stops recognizing the adapter completely.
Only rebooting the iPad does help.
Any information on what to do? Is this a known issue?
