M1 Very looud digital noise.

I recently purchased an M1 which was described as "Distorted Sound"

My first thoughts were that it may just be the headphone jack Op Amp, but all outputs are the same.

Since none of the patch names were correct "00 Init Prog" I assumed that the best course of action was to replace the battery and SYSEX the original file over.. Which I managed to do this evening.

But the noise is still horrendous.

I can just (JUST!) make out the sound of the instrument beneath the noise.

Has anyone any good ideas?? My first inclination is to scope the output of the DAC and see if that's clean.. I need to break out my 30yr old equipment for that,

I would really love to get it operational.
