Volca Sample Delayed MIDI Start

So, I am trying to control the Volca sample with a MIDI foot pedal. On MIDI Start, I can see the Play button on the volca light up precisely when the foot pedal is pressed. The Sequence starts playing about one second later. This delay is the same regardless of set tempo. Stopping the sequence via MIDI works fine.

I was hoping FW update 1.42 would fix this. "Fixed MIDI Song Position Pointer" apparently is not it.

I should note that the pedal is outputting System Real Time - Start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
