Damper on multiple channels

I've finally managed to connect my old keyboard (Yamaha Tyros 2) as a masterkeyboard to the Kronos. Unfortunately the damper only works on the Tyros when both keyboards use the same timbre.
Searching around, I found some solutions with KARMA, but pretty much everything was from around 2012.
Is the KARMA hack still the preferred solution or is there some easier way?
If it matters, I've got a spare damper (I'd prefer using only one for both keyboards though) and a second midi cable.

Yes, Karma is the way. It's very versatile and can handle multiple groups on different MIDI channels.

I made a "template" combi (just a saved combi) that has the Karma setup already prepared. When I make a new combi, I load the template and build it from there.

You can also set one of the available Combi timbres from «int» to «ext» or «ext2».
Set the midi channel for that timbre channel to that of the Tyros,
and also adjust the keyboard range to something outside of the Kronos keyboard. For instance G9 to G9.

Damper messages (and others) should be transmitted on the selected midi channel.

Agreed. I use that Karma trick all the time to control Expression across different timbres in combis using two or more controllers.

It gets confusing when I try to throw Mainstage into the mix, though.

Thanks, I'm going to try this approach.

While we're at Combis, how do I add stuff to one? This might be a dumb question, but whenever I take a combi (any, factory or empty) and add something by choosing some other program in a channel, it doesn't sound. I always have to use the Quick Split/Layer function to get any sound. What am I doing wrong?

Easiest way to add a Program to a Combi is to use the menu option to add Program - that allows you to select which timbre to populate and sets up the Program for use in the Combi.

However, to answer your question directly you need to change the assigned midi channel to Gch - each Program slot in a Combi is set to a different midi channel by default.
