Sequencer: Transpose Midi EXT will not work?

I have a lot of sequences, but want to use the Bass on my EMU E64 on Ch.2.
that works, but if I transpose the track, the EMU does not respond at all. The Ch2 Bass sequence has been recorded and transposed e.g. -3 , but still plays on the E64 untransposed?
Which setting have I missed?
The E64 only have options for Global Send/Rec Program Change.. I can transpose the Preset, but then I would have to make several different presets for the bass.....
If I play the Bass INT, transpose works...just not EXT.
