XE20 - how to change effects type

Discussion relating to all other KORG Pianos related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, SP170, SP250, SP280, LP380, MICROPIANO and so on....

XE20 - how to change effects type

Post by Csmellon »

Looked through all the faqs, videos and manuals.
Tried many, any combinations of keys.
Could not find how to set or change the type of effect on a sound, only the volume on an effect already in place. The ek-50 has a button to change effects, the XE20 does not.

Any and all guidance s appreciated.

You can't swap out effects on the XE-20. You can only change the SEND level of the effects that are already programmed.

Don't get me wrong I like my XE-20 but there are some things on the much cheaper EK-50 (the keyboard it's based on), that KORG stripped from this piano that are really useful...

No pitch/modulation control
Can't change effects, which you already mentioned
Preprogrammed keyboard sets
Can't change the Ensemble harmony type

I don't think KORG really designed this piano to be anything more than a really nice home instrument to be played by beginners, and folks that are returning to playing & want something more than just a basic piano (folks like me). Too bad.

Who knows, perhaps they'll "unlock" some of these features with an OS update to keep it more relevant (instead of doing a remodel).
