Thinking Bout The Cove (cover)

Post by bpoodoo »

My cover of "Thinking 'Bout The Cove" by David Benoit from the album "Professional Dreamer" (1999).

The piano program is a Salamander Grand adapted for Triton as described here: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... p?t=124775

Nice; well played!

I can't see what started the drum track; was it on a timer? I see that you pressed something right at the beginning...

Thanks! The button I push at the beginning is the Sequencer Start/Stop button. There are 3 tracks in the sequence: piano, electric piano, and drums. The piano track is muted in the sequence as I play it back "live" in the video.

There's a 4 measure piano-only intro before the drums start, so I'm watching the "red green green green" 4/4 meter tempo flashing of that button as I'm playing so that I'm lined up with the drums when they start.

The drum patterns (4 of them I think) were copied from among the 150 preset patterns available in the Triton. I copied these 4 patterns into the drum sequencer track, and then copied them across measures. One of those patterns is a "fill" which I copied into the song in just a couple of measures. Making a drum track for a complete song using a Triton is very much a do-it-yourself task, but it can be done!

Thank you, I appreciate it! The sheet music was well written, and it's a fun song to play.
