Saving Tempo Changes

I'm having trouble saving tempo changes on Midi files when in sequencer mode. I highlight the tempo #, change to the tempo I want, then save it.

But the revised tempo is not saved.

The tempo lock button - light - is off.

I'm sure it's something simple but I can't seem to find it.

Go to the Sequencer > Event Edit > Event Edit page.
Choose the Master Track to edit. There you can modify, insert, delete
Tempo and Meter (time signature) events.
