korg m3 to PC ?

Greetings earthlings! Curious as how everyone has their M3s hooked up to their computers. I had my korg karma hooked up directly to my PCs soundcard line in / mic jack. is that a bad idea to try with an M3 ?

M3 Audio Outs to PC soudcard Line In should be fine. Just make sure that the PC audio input is configured for line level input, else distortion will be the result.

so a Y cable with the proper sized fittings is all that needed? there's no need for some USB interface between the two ? to protect my computer from the korg? is the sales guy just trying to sell me a gizmo?

Yup, Y cable with suitable sized connectors is all that is necessary.
