questions on 4x vs 3x

Post by mikey224 »

Hello,
I have questions on the 4x. I had a 3x and then upgraded to 4x, but there are some odd differences, and I'm wondering if there is something wrong.

1. The sliders 1 (drum), 2 (perc) and 3 (bass) do not work. They work on the pads only. In other words, I can't adjust volume on the drum, perc or bass.

2. If I make a change in volume (using either sliders or wheel) on mic, lower, upper 3, upper 2 or upper 1 and then switch to a different style, the adjustments I've made stay the same on the new style.

3. If I choose a different upper 1 instrument, for example, piano vs. organ, and then I go to a different style, again, the next style will stay on piano instead of the original factory setting for that style.

In other words, on numbers 2 and 3 above, any adjustments I make to the style remain the same when I go to another style.

This didn't happen on the 3x. By the way, I still have 2.20 and will be installing the upgrade. Maybe that will fix it?

Thank you

Firstly there is nothing "wrong" and nothing that needs "fixing".
1. The sliders 1 (drum), 2 (perc) and 3 (bass) do not work. They work on the pads only. In other words, I can't adjust volume on the drum, perc or bass.

Yes you can.
Sliders are multi-purpose and can be used for drum/perc/bass by pressing the "Trk Sel." button which cycles through the slider options.

This is determined by the status of the "STYLE TO KBD SET" button:-
Page 57 of the User Manual wrote:
  • Letting Styles choose the Keyboard Sounds
Choosing a Style might automatically choose Keyboard Sounds. This depends
on the STYLE TO KBD SET indicator (KBD SET = Keyboard Set).
    STYLE TO KBD = "Off"
Styles do not select a Keyboard Set.
    STYLE TO KBD = "On"
When choosing a Style, Keyboard Set 1 is automatically selected.
    STYLE TO KBD = "Blinking"
Choosing a Variation automatically recalls the corresponding
Keyboard Set (1 – 4) inside the Style. For example, choose Variation 2,
and Keyboard Set 2 will be automatically recalled; choose Variation 3,
and Keyboard Set 3 will be automatically recalled.

Hope this helps

(PA4X is a new design)

Cheers
