OS Bugs in new Midilogue XD Module (and a question or two)

Post by Savante »

I just got my Minilogue XD Module a couple days ago, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. But I've discovered a couple OS bugs and I'm wondering if they've been fixed, or how to report them to Korg?

I'm not sure what OS version I have -- how can I tell? The manual doesn't say how to see this. But maybe I have 2.0 because I can save and recall favorites, which another post says doesn't work in 2.1.

But the annoying bugs are:

1) The octave switch on the left side of the panel under the tempo knob doesn't work when I'm controlling the XD from my Kronos keyboard. I have checked all the MIDI settings carefully, both on the XD and the Kronos and that is not the problem. The octave switch DOES work when playing notes from the pseudo keyboard on the module. And therefore it probably works from the built in keyboard on the keyboard version. But it doesn't work on the module version when playing from an external MIDI keyboard.

2) The Transpose in Global mode (button 3) doesn't work when playing the XD from an external keyboard (again, I'm using my Kronos). As with the octave switch bug described above, the Global transpose does work with the internal pseudo keyboard. But not with the external MIDI keyboard. The transpose function in Program mode DOES work, and that gives me a bit of a workaround, but it only affects the specific program, and is not a global function. The Master Tune on the same Global Mode button 3 does work.

Perhaps these bugs have been fixed in OS 2.1? (If I'm running 2.0 as I think I might be.) But even if they are fixed in 2.1, I would still risk losing the save and recall favorites function in 2.1, right?

How does one report such OS Bugs to Korg? Are they listening? Do they care? How else are they going to hear about these things unless they have a means to give them user feedback?

These aren't bugs - octave switching and transpose are functions for a local keyboard only which is the same operation as every keyboard I can think of. Use the ones on the external Kronos keyboard if you want to do this.

Thank you for your response. The Kronos transpose only goes one octave up or down, whereas the octave switch on the XD goes two octaves either direction, so not quite an equivalent.

One workaround to get a two octave transposition is to transpose one octave from the XD Program mode (that does work), and one octave from the external controller keyboard. It's a workaround, but it works.
