Less accuracy in the Nautilus sounds than inthe Kronos.

Post by kronoSphere »

It's a fact : Even Korg says it in the parameters guide of the Nautilus.

I have verified it in going into a music shop, and I have tested the Nautilus.
Good point anyway : The "Play" and "Record" buttons are now on the Nautilus touchscreen. My 11 years old Kronos play button is really ill !
But apart that, the Nautilus takes even more time to start than the Kronos.
And, IMHO, the quality of the sounding of the progs and combis sounds are really under the score of those of the Kronos.

But it seems, and I really believe it, that there will be another Korg successor of the magnificent Kronos. Cross our fingers ! :D

The Nautilus is just the way they designed it. To give you less for less money.

There will be a Kronos successor someday. But someday may not be tonight. Maybe in a couple of years, maybe 2024

Where is that mentioned in the Parameters Guide ? I am curious.

I have both Kronos 2-88 and Nautilus-88 here. I have even loaded some of my sounds from the Kronos into Nautilus. At least I cannot hear any difference at all through my studio monitors or headphones but maybe you can hear something I don't know.

There are for sure some components under the hood which are not the same, they might affect the sound, but it is very hard to hear I would say.

Anyway mwiik, could you please confirm to me this :

After you have made a SAVE ALL of one of your song in your Kronos,
then : can you easily load all data from this Kronos song into your
Nautilus ???

I am on the wayto buy a Nautilus BUT this point is absolutely essential for me.

Thanks and Regards

That's because there is probably no difference in audio quality.

"Less accuracy" has to do with there being different samples and no KARMA on the Nautilus, so programs won't 100% match. KARMA has CC offsets and wave switching, which can alter programs drastically. Also, I hear that many samples that are the same are in different order. Until the new library is released, Nautilus has to use alternate samples to try and match some of Kronos' programs.

On the flipside, the Nautilus has samples that the Kronos does not.
