Are our bought EXs lost when moving to a new Kronos?

Post by vipmusicos59 »

SITUATION
As I said in a previous message, I'm back to the Kronos area after a rather long break (6 years) .
6 years ago, I had to resell my first highly upgraded Kronos 73 (on which I had loaded many extra sound sets: Karma-Lab whole set, Sharps EXs 90 Kronos Assault, Kid Nepro 6 and 7, many free and commercial sets by Qui R and Sounds of Planet, and also a huge collection of "home made quality pro presets" from my PatousoundForge)...
As many Kronos users were (and still are) not fans of karma stuff (I really think it's a pity and that's why I've recently chosen to buy a Kronos 2 back instead of the Nautilus WS!), I didn't get any money back (from all that extra embeded stuff) when reselling my first Kronos...
It was a bit the same with my Tyros 4 with its huge collection of Yamaha Premium Packs (that I had bought)...

So, that is MY QUESTION:

When I came back to a new Yamaha Tyros 5, Yamaha Customer Service offered me the free upgrade of my previously bought (10 years ago) Premium Packs and that was a year before they offer all their Premium Packs as free stuff for any new Tyros/Genos user!!

In the same way, when a few days ago, I tried to re-install my Karma-Lab whole set of combis, it didn't match with Kronos 2 new factory architecture: Stephen just sent me back new links for free...and I thank him for that (I had bought his sets in 2012!)...

But, for example, when I'm trying to re-install my Sharp's EXs 90 (that I bought on Irish Acts Web Site before this soundset became an exclusive Korg EXs product, it now asks for an activation code and it just runs in demo mode!
Does that mean that I have to buy it again? And the same way for all my previously bought sets?
Of course, when I"d bought the Karo Exs EthnoWorld on Korg web shop, it was clear that the licence was for a single iD maschine... but for all the sound designers we supported before their products became exclusive Korg Exs, I can't understand that the the deal terms between us and them have changed...
When you're changing your computer, software companies usually don't change the terms of the previous contract: if you're a registered legal user, they either consider you can use their product on any maschine or they manage renewing your licence....
I think (that's my humble paying customer's point of view ) that it's quite a normal way to thank those who supported them when buying their products... for software stuff, it's a kind of natural deal (evenif there is lot of piracy, legit users don't have to "pay" for that... on the contrary, to make sure that "paying guys" like me will go on buying new stuff, I think it's quite fair not limitating software licence to a single HW maschine whith no way to transfer already bought products to a new hW set...
All those who're fighting a wrong battle (when disconsidering their paying clients because of their anxious fight against piracy) will be, I think, the real losers of the game!

No, you don't. Register your new Kronos, write an email to Korg and they send you another code.

OUPS... I just feel that my previous message was STUPID! Sorry for that...

When contacting Korg Shop with a new registration of my Kronos 2, one of my very old purchased products (EXS 64 Ethno World) can be loaded and activated on my new keyboard!

My problem now is to contact Irish Acts and Kid Nepro to find out how I can re-authorize the EXs I bought on their sites (those EXs are not registered on Korg Shop)... hope they will have the same positive attitude as Korg Shop...
