Using Triton Taktile 49 to control External MIDI Gear

Post by thelizardbloke »

Hi folks,
I'm hoping someone can help me?

I recently acquired a Triton Taktile 49 that was in need of some TLC (cosmetics). I've fixed it all up, updated the firmware to 2.0 and done a Factory Reset to clear anything the previous owner may have set up. I've also installed the Kontrol software and it sees the Taktile.

I was wanting to use this as a MIDI controller to control some of my external MIDI synths and it's here that I ran into some problems.

I have connected the Taktile to my MIDI interface, went to the MIDI settings and entered a value for the Global Channel. I have the MIDI Routing set to 'Controller' and turned Local Control OFF.

I set one of my other synths MIDI Rx channel to be the same as the Global MIDI channel on the Taktile but when I play on the Taktile I don't get any sound.

I know my connections are good because If I plug my Nautilus into the same MIDI cable I'm using on the Taktile, turn Local Control off and enter the same MIDI channel it will play just fine. I must be missing something in the Settings is all I can think of.

The Manual and Parameter guides are not very clear on this use case (and some of the information seems to be conflicting).

Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.
