KingKorg stopped booting up - frozen

Post by VerbalKint »

Hi there, out of nowhere my KK stopped booting up. It turns on, "KingKORG" shows on screen, but that's it. I was able to put it into "update mode" and update the firmware to 1.1.3, hoping it would reset something - but no luck. I was able to update to latest firmware, but still the same. It freezes after turning it on.

Any idea? Is there a factory hard reset via some button combination similar to bringing the KK into update-mode?

Hi,

That does not sound very well I'm afraid. Something is broken...
There is no hard reset as far as I know. And that would typically reset the global settings and the factory patches.

You can try (at your own risk) the test modes, described in the service manual.

to see whether this reveals something that can help you further, but I am afraid your synth needs service.
Question is whether it is repairable and at which cost....

Good luck

Thanks for sharing that PDF, I also contacted the Korg Support and see what they suggest. If there is nothing they can do without sending it in for a (costly) service, I will go and check the test modes you suggested. I will report back.
