While its allready strange to have the joystick and ribbon on top of the keys… having the 3 DNC buttons above the joystick makes absolutley no sense..
Its obvious why they are there, its the same unit as the 76 an 61 versions.. but having this on the 88 key version is a smack in the face of people spending €5000 on an 88 key version.. all korg had to do is make some metal plates and rearange the electronic components and everyone would be happy.. did they never hear of 3D printers, which are highly suited for these things if there is a lower number required so its to expensive starting a new productline?
This my friends will lead to many many frustrations by players, i was really looking forward to an 88 key version… but because of this i might stick to a 76 key version with my RD 2000 below it..

Re: concerns about the 88 key version
Just curious - Are you suggesting the joystick would block easy access to the buttons, and that Korg should have repositioned the buttons to the bottom side of the joystick as opposed to on top of, as in the 61 and 76 key variants?Bachus wrote:While its allready strange to have the joystick and ribbon on top of the keys… having the 3 DNC buttons above the joystick makes absolutley no sense
I thought the Joystick position wouldn't have been much of a problem for me. I considered getting the 88 key, but expected it to have a larger footprint - as it turns out it would have fit my space.

Not so much the blocking, but its the long reach thats worrying me more..davekalbach wrote:Just curious - Are you suggesting the joystick would block easy access to the buttons, and that Korg should have repositioned the buttons to the bottom side of the joystick as opposed to on top of, as in the 61 and 76 key variants?Bachus wrote:While its allready strange to have the joystick and ribbon on top of the keys… having the 3 DNC buttons above the joystick makes absolutley no sense

This is interesting although I would only get a 76 for myself but having just bought a Fantom 8 (my very first 88 ) I must admit that if the joystick was in the same position as the PA5x I would feel very uncomfortable with that reach.Bachus wrote:Not so much the blocking, but its the long reach thats worrying me more..

Agree - the thought of having to reach further (and forward) to the extreme top left of the keyboard would be very uncomfortable for me.Sam CA wrote:It took me a few minutes but once you get used to it, you wouldn't want it anywhere else
Why did they move away from the basic 88 key design like Kross, Krome, Nautilus, Kronos? SIZE? just 4-5 inches???!!!
Strange decision IMHO....
