Style Edit / Creation
I'm very new to Style Edit - so forgive my question if it's simple.
I'm playing with a Style (trying to create the Funk Style I referenced in another thread)
I can adjust and change instruments and their effects. But can I change how and when they play?
Example: Bass Player plays [1/4, 1/4, Half Rest] [1/4 Quarter Rest 1/2].... Is there a way to edit the current play pattern? I couldn't find where this pattern exists, let alone how to adjust it.
Apologies for the Music Notation above - I wasn't sure how to simply write that out.

Hi Dave,
maybe some of Sam’s video tutorials may be of help. Style editing/ creation has been pretty much the same since I had my PA800 back in 2007.
Without the full operating manual, I wouldn’t know if they have changed anything . That manual goes into a great deal of detail.
Unfortunately I don’t have a PA5x ( yet, still fence sitting), and my pa800/pa3x/Pa4x we’re all sold about 3 years ago in the anticipation of a new PA5x. Didn’t I get the timing wrong. Haha.
It’s possible the full editing functions may not even be available yet, love to know, because that’s pretty much the only thing stopping me ordering one.
Prior korgs to my mind , have had the best style editing/creation functions of any of the arranger keyboards I’ve owned.
Hopefully someone with a PA5x may be able to help you.
Couldn’t get link to work, but go to PA4x forum

Thank you Rikki. I'll check them out.rikkisbears wrote:Couldn’t get link to work, but go to PA4x forum

I realize I can select instruments and play the patterns in place the Pre-Programmed ones. But for someone of my skill level (little to none) it would be nice to be able to edit the existing pattern.
I'll post back how I've made out after watching the vids.
- EDIT -
Just a quick update - already I think I see how this is done. I should be able to use Event Edit to adjust the beats for each instrument. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm pretty sure I've been to the Event Edit screen on the 5X. Should work similar to creating an RPPR on the Kronos. Hopefully I can Step Record, if not I'll need to manually enter note values.

Hi Dave,
Just found a pic of the PA5x,press the rec/edit button I think that should take you into the style edit/ record mode.
Don’t know if you normally use a DAW, I used to EXPORT my styles as a .mid, do my editing in the daw, save it as.mid, then IMPORT it back into the Korg.
You might be able to event edit the tracks, in the Korg itself if only a minor change .
And you used to be able to copy and replace tracks in a style. Ie just say the bass in vari 2 was perfect , and in vari3 it wasn’t you could copy the bass from vari 2 to vari 3, mix n matching tracks within a style or from another style.
Good luck.

Hi Dave
Or you could simply re-record any tracks you wish for each CV within a style element (VAR,INTRO,ENDING etc..).
The options for the style enable you to select time signatures and length of tracks etc...
My disclaimer to the above is that I do not own a PA5x (yet) but this is how previous PA models work.
Maybe, just maybe, a PA4X manual might help....
Cheers
Pete
Yes Event edit enables you to change each track from a MIDI perspective - notes, PCs and other MIDI events.I should be able to use Event Edit to adjust the beats for each instrument.

That sounds like a good idea Pete, might do that myself as well.karmathanever wrote:Hi Dave

I wouldn’t imagine they would change their style editing functions drastically? ( if at all). Something that has worked so well over many many years.
I’m one step closer to ordering , got permission off hubby, even though he couldn’t really say much, just inherited a bit of money from my dear old mum, be nice to have something to remember her by.

I can't speak for you, or others - but I absolutely love it. My 4X is in a box just in case, but I don't think it's coming back out...rikkisbears wrote:I’m one step closer to ordering , got permission off hubby, even though he couldn’t really say much, just inherited a bit of money from my dear old mum, be nice to have something to remember her by.

They are here!!!rikkisbears wrote:going to check this week what the backlog in orders is. Might be a bit of a wait.
I'm having a 76 delivered to my local store this week (store transfer) - still VERY undecided but will be nice to see & touch - they also have an 88 at another store.
Distributor says they are shipping to Oz in August, and hey, it's August!!!

Hi Pete,
Thank you. Let me know how you go. Look forward to your feedback.
I unfortunately don’t have the luxury of try before I buy. Nearly 3 hour trip to get to my old supplier. None of the other stores are closer either. Country living has its downside haha.

Still in progress - have a SCUBA weekend here in the US. SO I haven't been able to devote much time to the Pa5X. I should be back at it tomorrowrikkisbears wrote:BTW how did you go with your style editing?
