I can't see a way of saving the style when saving a keyset. Is this possible?
All my previous non Korg keyboards have had an option to save a complete registration, sounds, styles, any adjustments made etc. But the Korg doesn't save the style.
Saving style in keyset?

Saving a STYLE in the keyboard set is not an option - this was how the PA3x used to work with "PERFORMANCES" - those days are gone.
Since PA4x, the OS is designed around SONGBOOK - the best design move Korg made IMHO.
SONGBOOK is your safe comprehensive "registration" tool. This saves the STYLE configuration and many other things in order to instantly re-call your song.
Saving (overwriting) specific changes to STYLEs is not necessary with the PA4x (and 5x) ---- you can select a STYLE and change all your sounds, tempos, panning, etc..etc.. and write to a SONGBOOK entry. This means you can use the same STYLE over and over again for many different songs without having to "overwrite" the actual STYLE.

When saving a Style in Pa5X , all 4 KBD Set , 4 Pads , Style tempo and all FX & interface settings like set intro & variation
are also saved but if you want to recall all of them when selecting again this saved Style then some locks must have been
removed from Global Settings.
You have 11 real time favorite KBD set you can recall instantly in any Style.
The use of Songbook is not required for any Styles or KBD set configuration for performers like me that never use it !
Hope this helps

Re: Saving style in keyset?
To be honest: Missing option of Pa4x to save a style assigned to a keyset has nothing to do with a new "desing of OS around songbook".karmathanever wrote:... performances - those days are gone.

SONGBOOK is your safe comprehensive "registration" tool ...
Also with comprehensive "registration" tool songbook of previous arrangers since long ago it was possible to select styles + performances (now called kbdSets).
Also using a style over and over again for many different songs without having to "overwrite" the actual style you always could do with songbook!
There is nothing new or better designed since Pa4x, but simply option "style change" is missing, what user foxtrotter asked for.
I also agree with Anthony Sharmman songbook is not required for configuration of styles or kdb-sets.Foxtrotter wrote:I can't see a way of saving the style when saving a keyset ... but the Korg doesn't save the style.
To compensate missing option "style change" of previous arranger you can use "style-to-keyboardSet". This option only works satisfactorily in style mode, because in songbook mode every change of the sb-entry unfortunately causes a change to kbdSet#1 (even if it is undesirable!).
The difference is that your complete registration you change now via selection of a style (option styleToKbdSet) instead of a performance (option StyleChange). This may take some getting used to - but it works.
Additional use programming the Style to Keyboard Set Mode menu to choose how the button works. With "Next Measure" you choose a Style and the new Keyboard Set will not be automatically selected until the first beat of the next measure is reached. With "Immediate" you choose a Style, the new Keyboard Set will be immediately selected.
Also use options of STYLE TO KBD SET (like previous single touch option) indicator:
Off: Styles do not select a Keyboard Set.
On: When choosing a Style, Keyboard Set 1 is automatically selected.
Blinking: Choosing a Variation automatically recalls the corresponding Keyboard Set (1 – 4) inside the Style.
*
PS: omitted options are not a new design of the OS but again a newly decimated OS
kind regards

Hi Foxtrotter
On the PA4 and PA5 you do have the ability to "...save a complete registration, sounds, styles, any adjustments made etc.." - this is SONGBOOK.
On the PA3x you could do some of this with PERFORMANCEs but that has been removed from PA4 and PA5.
So, my answer is to use SONGBOOK which will save all your settings and adjustments for a song being a full registration.
I use this all the time together with SETLISTs for performing and recording.
Cheers
Pete
The replies here may now be confusing so I would just like to clarify my reply (and I accept I may have misunderstood). You wrote:All my previous non Korg keyboards have had an option to save a complete registration, sounds, styles, any adjustments made etc. But the Korg doesn't save the style.

Full registrations vs Songbook
OK - to save all your settings and adjustments for a song being a full registration also was possible with previous Pa-arrangers. That is nothing new - that could be done with Performances combined with Function StyleChange or also earlier was done with Songbook.karmathanever wrote: .. use SONGBOOK which will save all your settings and adjustments for a song being a full registration.

I think here it is about whether it is possible to continue to use a workflow that primarily uses registrations that can be accessed spontaneous with or without changing a style. Unfortunately, you can't.
If you now use registrations (performances, kbdsets) of setlists of the songbook, you can also change them as well. However, these registrations of the setlists can no longer be accessed with or without changing a style. That is because each sb-entry is lashed on the style programmed/saved with a songbook-entry - you can no longer vary spontaneous with or without style.
Now you can call several styles from Setlist with or without a simultaneous change of registration by using the "StyleTokeyboardset" function. However, in order to primarily use registrations, you better would need a "KeyboardSetToStyle" function to change the style or not when you change a register - in order not to be lashed down to a style.
Unfortunately, this function has disappeared with PA4X/1000 (you mentioned that has been removed from Pa4/Pa5). In previous models we had "StyleChange" - it was one of that features too valuable to become removed!
Functions still should remain variable, instead of lashing into programmed parameters, that may be useful for music productions/recordings, but hardly for spontaneity of live-events or for hobby musicians.
kind regards
