Specific Sound - How to create?

Post by cabasner »

Hi All,

It's been years since I've posted anything here, and I hope someone might take pity on me. I've had a Kronos 2 88 for several years, and I'm a music dabbler with more money than ability or capability, so my knowledge level is terribly limited.

Back in 1977, there was a recording Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group Live, and a tune called Darkness/Earth in Search of a Sun. The intro to the song is clearly a synth, a series of tones that resolve into a kind of 'boom' sound. Does anyone have a clue as to whether something similar could be programmed into the Kronos?

Oh, man! I used to love to play that record LOUD!
I’m pretty sure Hammer used a massive Oberheim 8-voice. I would think that the MS-20 engine in Kronos could come close. A big part of duplicating that sound would be playing the dynamics.

Yes, that is exactly the tune I'm talking about!
