Kind regards

Actually, looking at the manual, even if the piano has a USB interface, the Midi Implementation chart for the i3 indicates Midi Note Off data is not supported by the i3 as an incoming signal. It only support that as an output signal.

So, I’d say the answer is no.

Kind regards

Unless they send release velocity, many (most?) keyboards never send Note Off... instead they send Note On with a velocity of zero, which the MIDI spec also recognizes as a valid Note Off command. So it could work. It would still need a host device of some sort, since the i3 does not have a 5-pin MIDI In jack, nor a USB Host function (it can connect TO a host, but it cannot, itself, function as a host). The host could be a computer, an iPad, or a standalone host device. The move away from supplying 5-pin MIDI connectors on low-cost gear is unfortunate. :-(
