Korg FAQ - some date updates (postponed for later time)
Korg have made some updates to the FAQ, shared on their site.
Avaibility dates of implementing some features from korg pa4x has been postponed for later time.
I wouldn't expect new OS release before may 2023
Whats more: loading encrypted data coming from older PaX models into Pa5X won't be supported (Korg had changed their mind)
Take a look:

Terrible news...
Almost must have, basic things that will be made after more than a year after the launch.
JUst scrolling thrpugh the FAQ at a first glance I have this mention: The Songbook and Keyboard Set is rudimentary. We expect improvment not only copy/paste options or import export functions. Ex.: in Keyboard Set, althoug the screen is bigger and there is a lot of space, we cannot inclube more information in the Cell that a Keyboard Set is, because you cannot see all (if I write in the name of the Keyboard Set the Name of the piece, tempo, Key etc. you cannot see everything). We expected to see more characters in that cell, as it is bigger than Pa4...
The need for all is to be able to use it in Live situations and to be able to trust the instrument...
I really hope that Korg will make a killer of an OS that will cover all. Because they can... I don't know if somebody from them even looks for the users' opinion... I still cannot believe that it happened in this way, but it is what it is at the moment.
Korg needs to know that users have big expectations from them. Or we will go to the other brands, as we need a reliable instrument.

Korg doesn't care our thoughts. The competition almost doesn't exist. Sorry but Yamaha or Ketron is not an alternative especially for someone who has big repertoire and knowledge how to use korg. No-one won't to start from the scratch.andreibb9 wrote:

People who buy those machines have many times a little or no knowledge about it (I mean people from the street). Sellers won't tell you that there is something wrong.
Product has to sell. This is business for the Company and Music Store.
This is not a car business with big competitors where you can just switch from one brand to another.

What the f*ck... This can't be serious, Korg. Waiting until May to see if perhaps functions are enhanced or newly introduced.... Leaving a big, big lag between its predecessor AND concurrents....
No, no, no, no. When reading this FAQ I miss one:
Q: Shall I replace my Pa4X with the Pa5X?
A: Not at this moment. I'm targeting beginning of 2024 but it might be postponed 'til end of 2026, depending on how the Pa5X shall be enhanced and bug fixed...

Hi , thanks for the update. Bit disappointing that these updates are going to take quite so long, but, better late than never. Very pleased in particular to read that they are including onboard event editing functions , that was an important one for me.pawlikp100 wrote:The competition almost doesn't exist. .
Have to agree with your comment above. Starting over on a brand of keyboard you’ve never owned before would be quite daunting. Couldn’t imagine starting from scratch , sorting thru styles and coming up with set lists for songs.Even more daunting relearning to create styles ,or sampling and creating sounds on a totally different operating system.
Owners that have been affected the most by the current short comings of the PA5x are the ones who delve deeply into the workings of the keyboard ie creating styles, sampling , creating sounds, gigging,( not the home player like myself) , would one really want to spend the time starting over , after the years invested in Korg.
best wishes

Agree. But if I had to choose at this moment between buying the Pa5X or buying another brand it'd be choosing another brand. Yes, I have to learn again, I have to look for resources again but rather that than sitting around annoying myself all the time. Yes, it is a hobby but I want to keep having fun in playing keyboard. Not sorting out work arounds for errors.rikkisbears wrote:Have to agree with your comment above. Starting over on a brand of keyboard you’ve never owned before would be quite daunting. I am one of the guys who wants to get the most out of his stuff and nowadays with my Pa4X yes; I'm creating my own styles (whether from midi or by hand on the keyboard), I'm creating my own sounds. And as far as I can conclude by user reviews and Korg's FAQ the Pa5X is not able to offer me the same the Pa4X does. A pity.rikkisbears wrote:Owners that have been affected the most by the current short comings of the PA5x are the ones who delve deeply into the workings of the keyboard ie creating styles, sampling , creating sounds, gigging,( not the home player like myself) , would one really want to spend the time starting over , after the years invested in Korg.
I know Korg has faced the same problems earlier with Pa3X and Pa4X. It should be a learning experience for Korg so Korg would not fall into the same trap again. Unfortunately Korg did not learn from the past at all... Nor uses it its users feedback and comments...

Well Said Rikki....... You don't need to put up with this kind of BULLY abuse.rikkisbears wrote:Hi,taichi wrote:Well said Arsena.
Well said Mikevvight.
Shame on you Rikki for writing fake news and garbage every day. How on earth do you find time to play the piano. Not to mention delving into the technical side.
Not taking the plunge into Yamaha and others means not playing any music for several years because Pa5X is total crap and not an option. Their living has been taken away from them. Cant you see Rikki that many musicians have no choice now. They have to move on to Yamaha and others.
Please, please Rikki stop this daily fake news and garbage, no one believes a single word that you say anyway. And it is very insulting to those here who have been cheated out of their hard earned money.
For your information I have been delving into the technical side of keyboards since 1988. I’ve owned at least 6 Technics, 5 Roland’s, 5 psr’s, and only 1 Ketron. I’ve also owned numerous synths, samplers and workstations. I’ve learnt the operating system of all the keyboards I’ve owned. Used to also do lessons on how to use them back in the early 90’s,
So why don’t you mind your own business, nobody is forcing you to read what I write.

you’ve got a Pa4x, if I still had mine, I probably would have waited till they got the bugs and current issues sorted out. Unfortunately I sold mine over 3 years ago and bougt an sx900 to tie me over till they brought out the next model. ( didn’t expect it to be 3 years). As much as I love my Sx900, a Korg it ain’t. Yes you can create your own styles on Yamaha’s also, far more simple, you only have to worry about 1 cv for each of your variations and fills and 2 cv’s for intro/ending. Unlike the 6cv’s you can have in a Korg variation. You also can’t just import and export your styles as .mids the way you do with Korg, you need to do it via some form of 3rd party software, most of it free, and written by dedicated Yamaha keyboard lovers. I mistakenly thought I could now event list edit in my sx900. Yes, for styles you record yourself , no for factory styles, unless they’re unlocked by one of these 3rd party pieces of software. And then not all of them.
If I still had my Pa4x, I’d be sticking with it, and waiting till the PA5x got sorted.
I’m only a home hobbyist, I’m making the most out of my PA5x as is, at the moment, and enjoy both my keyboards
best wishes

Yes Rikki, don't waste your time responding to stuff like that - you throw a nice genuine positive glow on the PA5x and is helping me hang on to my plans to buy....
Take care

Thanks Pete,
don’t swap your pa4x yet, though. I’d wait till they get it sorted just that bit more.haha.
Seriously though, great to have a Korg again. Just be good when they get it more stable and add some of those style editing functions back in.
Can’t believe they’re not keeping people informed as to availability.
Some people are still wanting them , bugs and all.
I’ve been watching AJ ( ajamsonic Ketron USA) he mentioned on one of the videos , he was having some supply problems ,too.
Just this crazy old world at the moment.
