Synchro start to recording?

I'm sorry - I visited the forum to post a few days ago, and there was some sort of glitch on the actual site. It evidently recorded my title but nothing else. Trying again:

I'm trying to use the synchro start feature in relation to recording.........but whether I go <synchro><record> or <record><synchro> I don't get a synchro start to a recording?

Is it possible, or does the synchro work only for straight playing?
