How to distinguish between a M3 and a M3 EXP?

Post by michelet »

I just bought a M3 (EXP?) 73 but unlike a M3 EXP module I borrowed from a friend, at startup my M3 doesn't show the red EXPANDED logo on a black screen.
Externally my M3 (EXP?) has a red sticker on M3 logo, it has EXB-M256 installed and it automatically loads EXB 1-3 at startup. It's OS is 2.05.

I'm thinking I've been ripped off... is this truly a specimen of M3 EXP?

if memory serves it just requires an OS update. Think Version 2 was the Expanded OS.

Thanks for your reply.
With the precious help of Stephen Kay and an Italian colleague, I succeeded understanding why my M3 was not expanded compliant, even though it run 2.05 operating system.
It appears it was badly upgraded, thus in the next few days I'll start from scratch installing OS 1.20 on a new SD card and then upgrading to 2.0 and then 2.05.
It's a matter of patience.
In the meantime I bought two banks of Performances off KARMA Lab and I'm looking forward to installing them.
