on the rather apparent switched off [my] IFX in Global
i don’t remember switching that off :roll:

The update altered some of your global settings.

This can be annoying. Being a newbie, I wouldn't know what to look for if my nautilus changed behaviour after an update.

I imagine switching off the IFX makes a drastic change in how things sound.
