Have you noticed 11th chord recognition issue ?
Advanced Musicians , have you noticed that 11th is not properly recognized ?
G-B-D-F-A notes give G9 chord but if 11th (C) is added , recognition still shows G9 (G-B-D-F-A-C)
- If you omit 7th at chord , G-B-D-A-C , chord is wrongly recognized as minor scale Gm11
- Proper piano position of G11 chord G1-F2-A2-C3-D3 is recognized as G9sus but in tracks 11th is played an octave lower as sus4
- Some happens in Major 7
Gm11 & G9(#11) are correctly recognized though
G11/11th was properly recognized in all older PaSeries.
This has been added to OS v1.2 issues.

I'm very specific in my reference NETWORK1 , do not post relevant net info without owning a Pa5X !
Of course it supports recognition of block chords like A13(#11)

Thank you Antony. I verified it. I've noticed that chords don't show themselves correctly as I'm playing.
Network1 ... Yes , if you set up things correctly, it does list poly-chords, that is something like Bm/A. You have to check Bass Inversion in Settings.

Yes i agree, especially for cinematic Film-scoringchelsea4023 wrote:Hi all,
Just to add to the discussion, I think this is an invaluable teaching aid when it comes to chords and inversions.

Yamaha have a similar teaching aid, named Chord-Tutor

Actually Bm/A is an abbreviation of Bm11 that is correctly translated contrary to B/A that should be recognizedmstodola wrote:... it does list poly-chords, that is something like Bm/A.
as B11 and is recognized only as B9 ... this is the issue that I mainly describe here !
There are a lot of tricks in PaSeries in order to provide advanced jazz chords info in Pa recognition decoder with just using left hand ,
while playing solo with right hand , just a few examples of what I use :
C13 = E-A-Bb-D
C11 = C-D-F-G-Bb
C13-9 = E-G-Bb-C-Db
C7+9 = C-D#-E-G-Bb
F7+11 = F-A-B-C-Eb

I understand all that. One of my degrees is in music. It is all in how to think about it when you are playing. Actually Bm/A with A in the bass is Bm7 with the 7th in the bass making it 3rd inversion. But lets not squabble over such things. Over here in the US we have Jazz, Country, Classical and various other styles of looking at chord construction. And then you have church people who even know less. I learned the classical way and hardly anybody whom I play with understands what I'm talking about. I've learned a long time ago to just let it go.
Actually what he was describing isn't what checking the bass inversion displays. It displays what I just described which seems to be the modern way writing things. Bm/A means a Bm with A in the bass which isn't the way I learned.

Yep , this is exactly the translation of a chord fraction , numerator is the main chord and denominator the is bass , for instance F6/G = G11.mstodola wrote:Bm/A means a Bm with A in the bass which isn't the way I learned.
But ... you were talking about poly-chord or better block chords , where in this form you can also determine ChordA/ChordB as lower and
higher block chords when noted ...

Still both types are an abbreviation for an easy to go sheet Music , the proper chord is the actual as explained in the beginning of topic.
The trick here is to find a method to inform recognition of complex chords with just one hand , without involving bass inversion function.
Musicians that use advanced chords , just try my one hand examples to see how Pa recognition engine behaves ... you'll be amazed

Poly chords make more sense to my ears as described in classical or Jazz notation. Poly chords are not really new chord structures, just a different way of looking at them. Whereas fractional chords, as you call them, sound more to my ears like chordal suspensions creating tension and then resolving. Or it works with having a pedal tone in the bass and moving chords over the top. Very popular a few decades back in popular music. These did not display themselves as fractional until I turned on Bass Inversion. Also the styles would not track correctly until I did.
