Krome receives midi from master keyboard but DAW doesn't
I have a Yamaha P-85 piano with midi out to Krome (to increase keyboard range). Krome receives midi and plays assigned Krome sound on assigned midi channel. I can see signal on Krome screen. So far so good. If I play the KROME keyboard, my DAW (Reaper) receives midi signal via UR44 usb (so midi from Krome to DAW is fine) but if I play the Yamaha, no midi is received by my DAW even though the midi into & out of Krome seems fine. It's like there is a "thru" issue. Previously working fine. Checked all leads and connections - all fine. Any thoughts
There is no path within the Krome for the MIDI In signals to appear on the MIDI Out port. This is intentional, in order to prevent MIDI loops, which would otherwise cause chaos.
A possible solution would involve using a couple of MIDI Solutions MIDI Merger boxes. The first would split the output of the Yamaha P-85 to two MIDI cables, with one cable going to the Krome's MIDI In, and the other cable going to the second MIDI Merger box's MIDI input, with the other second MIDI Merger box's Input coming from the Krome's MIDI Out. The second MIDI Merger box's output should be connected to the UR44's MIDI In. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks "VoIP". This seems like an overly complex solution. I have definitely had this setup working in the way a describe, but using a UR22 ( only difference) in the recent past. All I need is the input from the keys on the Yamaha to travel through the KROME and into Reaper. It was definitely happening before with no issues. It used to work beautifully with USB only (apart from Yamaha midi out to Krome in). I can't understand why it didn't work now.
SOLVED: Okay, here's the solution. P85 midi out to UR44 midi in. The key to the solution was in the Reaper midi device preferences where there was a need to tick "enable input from this device" and "include input from this device in 'all midi inputs'"
Result. Checked recording and the midi signal registers perfectly.
