Buying a used Kronos 1 - help please

Post by karmathanever »

Sorry guys - because I’ve asked this before (slightly different scenario) but in a rush in case I miss out....

I owned a Kronos 1 for many years and sold it a couple of years ago.
Missing it badly and nearly bought a new KK2 but price too high for me.

I bought several Kapro and other sound packs from the Korg store for my original Kronos 1 (still have the files and my account still alive)

My question (please)
I have just seen a Kronos 1 for sale locally (checking it out tonight) and wanting to check that, if I buy it, I will be able to add this Kronos 1 to my Korg account and download/install my purchases onto it.

Note that I have read the terms on the Korg shop site...
The license granted to the end-user for the Sound Data is attached to the end-user’s account on the Korg online store, and is limited to use of the Sound Data on no more than three (3) Korg Products which the end-user owns or controls and which are registered to the user’s account
If my new KK1 had ever been registered before, will this mean I cannot ever register it in my name hence be unable to access my purchases.

If you've had any experience with this, I would be so grateful to know.

Thanks in advance

The present Korg licensing rules allow up to three Kronos/Nautilus to utilise the same Expansion Library purchases. Just add the new Kronos' Public Key to your account, and it willl generate the Expansion Library unlocking keys for the new board. It shouldn't be necessary to re-download the actual Expansion libraries themselves. I believe Korg allow Kronos or Nautilus keyboards that have previously been registered, to be transferred to another account. Korg support have been very good at resolving any issues that may arise.

Are you picking up from a store or an owner? If you know the owner, you can ask him to Delete his Registration. Go to:

https://korg.shop

He will have to sign into his account. Go to the Account page and select YOUR PRODUCTS/DOWNLOADS.

Scroll down to Kronos and open to view the screen shown below. Delete is at the bottom.

I've never bought a used Korg, so I haven't had experience with transferring registration. I'm sure they will help, but deleting the seller should be easier for you, the buyer.

Thanks Mike

The seller has not registered it but it had one other previous owner - I'll see if the seller still has his details.

Thanks again

Hi Pete,

Woohoo ! You will finally get yourself a "new" Kronos ! \:D/

About transferring sample libraries, with the years I read that Korg will take care of this if you send them an email, even if the previous owner didn't register, etc.

I wonder though, let's say the previous owner installed additional Korg libraries on the Kronos and decided to let them on the sold unit, if the new owner "inherits" them with free authorization codes on the Korg site when he buys the used Kronos.

In any case, have fun with your new machine ! Here is a toast. 8)
