Grandstage X - what a lovely thing

Post by Weeksy »

Hello from Melbourne Australia :)

Just got what must be one of the first Grandstage Xs in the country. This is a first time Korg purchase for me - very happy. A huge congratulations to everyone involved. Obviously beautful industrial design.

As a first time RH3 action user and decades-piano-other weighted KB user, it feels real good! I don't know what prior generations were like but if they were like this, man some people are fussy!

The operating environment is very intuitive - there is literally nothing that isn't obvious (to me) to navigate.

In fact, it's so intuitive that it revealed three (hopefully) easy additions for the next firmware update:

1. Holding an arrow or - + button to enable faster scrolling/settings changes.

2. Add "LFO speed" in the preset EDIT menu - for presets with oscillator modified effects - particularly including the mod wheel destination. There are many excellent presets with LFO-related effects brought in and out using the mod wheel, but the underling LFO speed can't be changed for many.
3. Add the drums sound set in OTHER (category 10). Currently they are only available as backup in the RHYTHM section.

I hope these additions will be added - it will enable an easy, increased use of the GSX and the synth engines underpinning the incredible sound set already available.

If anyone has any specific questions for me as a user, happy to provide my 2c (well, more than the above 2c :) )

Pleased for you.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for any updates, Korg leave a lot to be desired when it comes to updating Firmware or an OS.

Typically it can be an 18m wait.

Thanks for the heads up Biggles. I'll reach out via the Australian distributor, see if that can help. I work as a product designer (hardware and software), so am reasonably confident that these additions aren't difficult to add given how they've designed things.
