I would like to sync a few samples to be on beat with a certain drum pattern.
I guess there are a number of ways to do this on the Kronos - which method(s) to do you recommend?

What type of sample, and what is the mode of playing? At a first guess, using KARMA might be the way to go. If the sample itself contains rhythmic elements, there is no simple way of speeding up or slowing sample playback to bring its rhythm to that of a drum pattern. The drum pattern tempo could be altered, using Tap Tempo, maybe.

Is the drum pattern the sample?? Time Slice chops it up so you can play the individual sounds in time. You can stretch it in Kronos' Sample section, though a lot of us find that programs like Audacity have better stretch/fit processing. Then export it back to Kronos. I have a Torso S-4 sampler that does this in realtime, but it's kind of a specialty item.
If it is a longer sample, you can affect it with LFOs and other modifiers. LFOs have MIDI sync options. Some effects, like BPM Delays are syncable. Putting samples in the Wavesequencer is certainly a way to do it. RealTime Pattern Play/Record (RPPR) is another way. On the sequencer, I generally play a sample on beat, and repeat that.
It's also possible, you will need to Trim the sample, so it fits on/in a beat. As Voip said, we need to know a bit more about what kind of samples.
Re: How to sync samples to be on beat
Thanks for the replies. My samples are primarily of sounds other than musical instruments, for instance a looped bird sound or a looped engine sound (short duration, usually 1-3 seconds). I want to make songs in the Kronos sequencer primarily based on my samples and some Korg drum patterns.
