Pa5X OS Update V1.4

Post by jozepepa »

https://www.korg.com/us/news/2025/0121/

Can we expect a date when this will be released?

ChatGPT :lol:

"It’s difficult to predict an exact release date based solely on the announcement. However, considering KORG is previewing the Pa5X OS Update V1.4.0 at their booth, it’s a sign that the update is in its final stages of development. Typically, when companies showcase a product or update at a public event, it suggests the release is imminent—likely within 1-3 months.

If I had to make an educated guess, I would expect the update to roll out around February or March 2025. This gives KORG time to gather feedback from the preview, address any remaining issues, and finalize the release. Keep an eye on their official channels for announcements! Are you a Pa5X user"

Nice, pa5x update with old features of Pa4x.
KORG is this update?

I think pa5x is still on version 0.95 beta.
2022 = Korg PA5x
2015 = Korg Pa4x 76
2007 = Korg Pa800
2004 = Korg Pa1x
2000 = Roland Va-7
1998 = Roland E-86
1996 = Yamaha ?!

Probably after the NAMM summit. The summit ends on 26th Jan 2025, post which we can expect the update.
My inclination will be to (CW6) 2nd week of Feb 2025. Let's wait and watch.

Couldn't agree more. Still functions from Pa4X, even Pa3X or Pa2X missing. Disgusting! I think after OS 1.4 release, a new sticky topic should be created to summarize still missing functions and even worst, still existing bugs.

What are we with a midi to style converter in the keyboard??
The Quick record function is only interesting if it is like Genos "Quick and Multi record",
but then not in the stupid MP3 but in WAV 44.100-48.000 Hz.
Make a Midi to Style converter app for Windows & IOS like Yamaha did!!
Also a korg Pa5x manager & songbook manager function,
so we don't have to depend on an unreliable provider like KMP software which is way too expensive!!!
There is no need to integrate more functions into the software, but fix the damn bugs!!! :oops: :oops: :oops:

We can be negative about Korg Pa5X but in my opinion it is the best Arranger there is. There is no other brand that delivers styles that are the most like the original songs, deep possibilities to make changes, built-in synthesizer, smart design of the user interface. I have heard of the best brands of arrangers but Korg is the best.
Korg PA5X, Yamaha PSR-SX920, Roland Integra 7, Roland Fantom 07, Roland Boutique D-05/TR-08/JD-08, Roland Go:KEYS 5, Logic Pro, Roland TD-02KV, Roland AIRA S1/J6/T8, Yamaha SEQTRAK

+1

So far we don't know what other bug fixes or more that may have been done in the new update.
Maybe a idea to read the new version description when it comes before start judging too much? 🤔

Btw,
Genos2 is a great Arranger Keyboard as well. :soundsgood 😉
Cheers 🥂

It is encouraging that Korg are taking steps to improve and stabilise the PA5x although it has taken way too long.
IMHO, the PA4x is still a better and more solid arranger currently but the PA5x is getting there. It is clear that some owners simply want lots of authentic "SONG-STYLES" of which Korg has many however, in my opinion, for playing authentic song-backings (and to play along with) a more practical solution is "Karaoke Version" with its selective keys, tempos and instruments. But each to his own as they say....

It is good that Korg is listening to the customers. However, just giving the same features of PA4X and rebranding it as PA5X is not acceptable. We definitely need the good features of PA4X, but also features unique to PA5X that can help differentiate the product and also justify the cost the users have paid.

Sorry but I found over 60 solid differences versus pa4x. When we talk about cost. Current it's more affordable than in the moment when it was released.

My 2 cents...
Yes, I agree that the Pa5x was released prematurely. Lots of bugs and missing features (some in which I depend on to make a living :) )
I also agree that the communication from Korg is poor, leaving their hardcore customers frustrated.

With that said, I also believe that there are many advantages in the Pa5x over the 4x.
We are forgetting even the simple features and functions that we have taken for granted... like 6 outputs instead of 4, two style arrangers in which you can easily mix, transition, between styles and songs.
The number of samples you can load and the unlimited number of styles and sounds you can create.
The interface in general is much more powerful, easier to use, and just beautiful.
The matrix, which if used properly, can make all the difference in a live situation.

For engineers, esp. software engineers, you know that this is a new OS which means Korg had to implement almost everything from scratch.
I think if the name was not "Pa5x" and rather a new arranger name, everyone would have been more forgiving :)

I work for a software company myself, and we are also making an innovation step in software and rebuilding the software from scratch. Otherwise you are left with a legacy of years. Vintage software. This means that you have to keep up with the market and launch your product before it is really all finished. Korg apparently does this too. You have to remain active in the market otherwise it is over and you will be overtaken. This also applies to innovations. Sometimes you make good choices for the future where the customer is not happy at all.

Hello,
Pa5x is not the best arranger keyboard!!
I know I shouldn't say that here, because this is a Korg minded forum.
But that is undoubtedly Genos2, this was bug free at launch except for a few things.
I have both Pa5x76 and Genos2 and before that Genos1, Tyros 1 & 5 and Pa4x76 & Pa4x76 Musikant. Also Hammond, Nord and Wersi.
I am realistic and honest, but I do know the difference, I am talking about sound, styles and usability. The hardware of Pa5x very good.
But if after so many software releases so much is still not solved then something is wrong!!
Moreover Yamaha has the best support, Yamaha recently launched a platform (yamahapk.ideascale.com) to submit errors, suggestions, and comments where the programmers can track down the errors and also analyze interesting ideas from users. This does not exist at Korg, I have sent several emails to Korg support without any answer, not even a confirmation of receipt!!
At Yamaha usually the same day!!
