What style do you play?
This may be a good time to find out who plays what musical style on the PA1X. I know that some people play more than one style but a general idea would be good. It may help Sharp decide what styles to put up for us up as well.
I know these are general styles, but I've tried to keep to the main PA1X genres.
Cheers

I would probably be answering the question by saying that I play more ballads and while I'd actually like to see more dance/techno and ambient styles in Sharp's new stuff in order to actually play those styles that I'd love to do on the Pa1x. Right now, it's a bit hard to play those with the styles that are available.
Thanks Pueblo for doing this poll

I just finished a busy holiday season. Now, I want to spend time to learn the PA1XPRO. I will probably continue to play what I currently play on the midi accordion. I have a regular gig in an Italian restaurant- emphasis is mainly on Italian-American music with a lot of Louis Prima, Dean Martin kind of stuff. Because of the restaurant exposure, I tend to get a lot of private parties that also call for 50’s and 60’s oldies as well as danceable big band tunes. Occasionally, I get calls for cocktail/dinner gigs which, in my case, are mostly standards/evergreen midi files that I did with Band-in-a-Box from the Real Book without the lead. My goal is to develop several high energy oldies and big band sets with a mixture of style mode playing and SMF’s. That seems to be what the market is around here, for live performers. The DJ’s have cornered the top 40 market. But I like the idea of eventually adding the mp3 option so that if I get a top 40 or similar request, I can just call it up come` the DJ’s. Incidentally, I read that some arranger-keyboards have the capability of placing “markers”, whatever they are, so that if needed, an SMF could be extended. Is the PA1x one of those arrangers? To stay on topic, I occasionally do a variety stage set for Vet’s centers and other organizations, usually under an hour, all up-tempo and may include a C&W tune or two. Hence, I play a variety of music genres that hopefully, I’ll be able to do on the PA1Xpro with more pizzazz (and therefore get more work).
Ciao,
Jerry

I'm doing very similar things to Jerry T,
but in Hotels catering for 4-7 day coach tours rather than a resturant.
The needs of the job vary from modern/old time ballroom, to sequence dancing to light pop/rock depending on the crowd.
i30 has been ideal for the last few years, hopefully the Pa1-x pro will be just as good if not better

For what it’s worth, the last time I asked this questions the range of styles people wanted was so wide that it pretty much meant anything goes.
So from that I said to myself I would convert styles from other keyboards into Pa1X format and then reprogram them by hand where needed to make them sound fantastic on the Pa1X. The idea behind this was to get a large number of styles out faster.
Next up, original styles.
From what I can see, none of the arranger keyboards can do proper Modern, Techno, Trance, and Dance. There’s nothing to convert, and nothing even worth really looking at. So, this is where I was going to start writing my own styles.
It’s all on the way. Just a matter of time.
Regards.
Sharp.

I play mostly "middle of the road music". Ballads country ballroom some "pop"etc. One style I have not seen on any keyboard is one suitable for Albatross by Fleetwood Mac. If anybody knows of a style for this on the PA1X please let me know what it is.
There are several styles I would like to see on the PA1X. eg 6/8 March, Irish and scottish jigs and a few styles with suitable backings for the music of the Shadows.
Still I am past my sell by date so I doubt if these would be everybodys choice.

Thanks for all ur efforts Sharp and for putting us in the picture.
Indeed, I have never encountered really good techo/dance styles in other arrangers to convert them. Although some of the Ketron ones are not so bad but they're still not great.
The idea of writing your own sounds perfect. Good luck.
Thanks again

To all,
This post was not meant to push Sharp into producing more styles, so please Sharp if it seems that way, please forgive me. I'd actually forgotten that you've already done a similar thread. I really wanted to do an analytical survey out of interest and I think it's already telling a story.
AS Sharp says, there are a few gaps in modern arranger styles especially dance etc including styles produced by Korg, and maybe this poll will help Korg produce more "across the board" styles in the future.
It's Christmas eve, and again I wish everyone here at IA and at Korg Inc. a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I'm off to earn some money to help pay off this keyboard!!

Possible Oversight
Did you unintentionally forget to consider Rythm and Blues (R&B) as a part of your categorical list?
