PA1x Tempo/value dial Problems

Post by Eddy »

Hello,

I’m a satisfied owner of a Korg Pa1x but I have some problems with the tempo/value dial. When I use the dial for a tempo correction, the tempo jumps from different values back to a slower tempo (or faster). When I use the same dial to scroll through the songbook entry’s I have the same problem. Is this a malfunction or a common problem? I Use OS 2.53. A new installation doesn’t solve the problem.

Regards Eddy

I have the same problem with my Pa1x, and it was the same thing with my SK76. The dial ages badly.

Hello!

I have identical problem like was described above,
and my question is:
"Can I open pa1x by myself and "clean" tempo/dial knob?
Note:My keyboard has no warranty any more and Korg service is far away-that means I have to do it by myself...
So,how much is dangerous?

Pls refer to the following previous post: in that case Paolo Tramannoni advise solved my problem. May be you can have the same benefit.

Problem solved!

Thank you all, dear friends.

Paolo idea was correct:

I tried to PRESS (firmly and slowly, but GENTLY) the dial while turning it in both ways (clokwise and anticlokwise): no result at the beginning.
Then (let's say 20-30 times) the miracle: started to work again! Now it is working perfectly.

I have not answered immediately because I wanted to make sure of the results. Tried for many days, and it is perfect.
So it was an hardware problem (nothing to do with OS) that I could solve without opening the case and without taking the gear to Korg Service.

Grazie Paolo!

Angelo
Ciao and Buon Natale a tutti!

Hm,that's a temporary solution.

Me and my frend opened my pa1x at my own risk, dismount a tempo/dial trimitron, separate it into pieces, cleaned, put back into place and after that procedure knob is working perfectly, like new!

Conclusion: Trimitron was full of dirt, and because of that tempo/scroll knob "was going crazy"

If someone is needed, mark on the trimitron is: i24rL -3 pin

Cheers! 8)
