REFERENCE MONITORS!! URGENT!!!!

Alright guys! I just bought some KRK Systems Rockit RP-5's for 200 bucks even (brand new!)

I was debating between those and a pair of M-Audio BX5a's for 197 dollars even.

The M-Audio's have liquid cooling and so on. Kevlar cone, silk tweeter, rear bass port, etc.

The KRK's have neodynium drivers, etc.

So before this place closes (one day sale), I need to know if I made the right choice here. I was told the KRK's have a much cleaner sound (and I know they have a thicker low end) but the M-Audio's sound great too! I'm not sure what to do here. They close @ 5 CDT.

I know a lot of prominent people use the BX5a's (such as BT), but I also know M-Audio goes to town sponsoring people.

What are your thoughts?

reference monitors IMHO are very subjective... I mean: you have to work with them mixing or mastering for LOOOOOOOOOONG time and I can assure you that if you don't buy a high level (that means very expen$ive) monitors you will not have THE real sound (and many time you won't get it even with best monitors...). So your ears will understand and learn how your monitors work and as soon as you can do this you'll find the right balance in the EQ.
So my opinion is: buy the pair that your ears suggest you. You will be happy with them.

I voted for the KRK's ... a better monitor IMHO.

I got the KRK RP6 and I like them a lot. So, I would suggest to go for the KRK.

the cheap krk range does in no way compare to their normal monitors....other than they look alike..

I'd suggest behringer Truths B2031A over both. Invest a little more and you get two huge, solidly built clones of the genelecs 8030.

I know this is no longer an urgent subject, but...

I like to monitor my practice sessions with the same speakers that I play live with. This gives me time and experience with what I will be using when it is most critical = live performance.

I also use in-ear monitors about every other session to be ready for that as a real life situation and to get true stereo sound at every instrument that I am playing as that changes over time.

Translation: Crown amps + Carvin speakers or MIPRO MI-808 IN EAR MONITOR SYSTEM + Westone UM2 Dual Driver True Fit Earphones.

Now I am shopping for: JBL LSR4328P Studio Monitors; about 12 to 13 hundred USD. This will allow me to keep my big speakers where they belong = the truck!

The KRK's sound better to my ear but that's just me. I thought the bass aspect was a bit much on the ones I heard but they may have been set up that way. I think its also critical to remember both these monitors are just average at best and at this price point, I wouldn't be expecting too much. You'll probably want to upgrade to something better if sound quality becomes a really important.
