Good Monitor speakers for Oasys

Hi all,

This is my first post and I am very exited to tell you all that finally I am ready to order an Oasys from sweetwater. What monitor speakers and stand would you Gurus outthere recommend for Oasys 76/88. I don;t have a big room for speakers but I want something that sounds best.

Does Korg makes any speakers/stand for Oasys?

Sorry to answer your question with a question, but what's your budget for your monitors ? Personally I am really enjoying my Adam P11A monitors. I got those from Sweetwater.

I can answer your other question directly, Korg don't make monitors.

I have Event TR6E and the sound is very very good

Thank you for your input. Adams are nice but little too expensive. I like tr6 though. Can a BOSE acoustimass be used with an Oasys?

Tapco by Mackie S5 Active Monitors (5 in.) How are these?

Give Dynaudio from Denmark a try. Dyn also makes high end home speakers ranging tens of thousands of dollars down to car audio. Also they manufacture their own drivers and tweeters. Dyns are famous among audiophiles and DIY. I tried many monitors but Dyns were always musical, silky smooth and provide negligible fatigue on your ears and the stereo dispersions are very wide and deep. Other new comers from German and American companies armed with fancy technical jumbos simply didn't live up my expectations. If your budget is tight, the HS series (new replacement for the legendary NS10) from Yamaha is very efficient and dynamic and blow more expensive competitions away. I spent countless hours listening a dozen well known brands and I picked Dyn for sounds and Yammy for my money.

I agree I have Dynaudio BM6A speakers love them, would never get rid of those babys.

i had hs50m for several months, they are pretty good, put a lack in the bass part, hs80m better.

I can recommend Genelec 1030 - but I suppose most people will recommend their own monitors ...

The KRK Series seems to be a daughter of Korg I heard it 4 Weeks ago (KRK RP8)... Very very nice...

And I played it on an Event TR8 simply the best I've heared...

Genelec and Dynaudio are not bad either.

The ADAMs Daz is using I had for a time but replaced them with the JBLs which I am using 5.1. They have different inputs, analogs as well as digital ones (!) and can calibrate and conpensate room acoustics. But only to a certain point. Do not make the mistake to think that they make a bad listening room to a pro room. The new Genelec's can do that even better, but again - this is a help to a certain point.

In general it is best to take one or two CDs, which are produced in top quality and you know very well. Go to a music shop and compare the different monitor models. Then you will get an idea about the difference.

People in general spend thousands of dollars or euros and do _not_ care enough about their monitors, what I found always funny, as it is the interface between your music and your brain/ears. Believe me it is worth the time!

The models mentioned here are all of good quality.

Hey all, just lurking as I'm waiting a bit until buying an oasys - maybe after the next namm. Hope this is on topic and I'm not hi-jacking the thread. My question is, what are you all using to drive these monitors, ie, preamp and amp, mixers etc.

I have an ok amp made here in brazil for keyboards ( triton classic, off topic) but any drums sounds lack punch compared to my sony mdr-7506 headphones. I don't gig anymore but I do play at parties in my house - 120 watt monitors would be fine for that.

The oasys seemingly doesn't have XLR outputs - how is everyone coping with that?

Most of the monitors mentioned above are active, which means they have the amp already included.

I sell many of the above mentioned monitors! What is the main purpose for these monitors going to be? Mixing/critical listening or just a great sounding box for multipurpose use? I am going to have to say that the Alesis M1 Active 620's for the money are Amazing! I would NOT use these for mixing due to the inherent EQ curve they have! Smiley Face! But they sound great for a street price of $399 a pair! Also the Tascam VLX5's are not bad either. They deff. have a flater response and are only around $299/pair. My favorite monitors are the Mackie 824's but those are a lot more dough!

Thanks everyone for their input. I guess now I have a clear idea which ones I need to go for. It also depends on the price discount I get at the time of purchasing Oasys. I will let you guys know which one I chose.
