Some new R3 Patches

I just got my R3 and am having a lot of fun exploring its programming capabilities. I am very happy with this little synth! I notice that there are very few patches available for this synthy so here's a few to get the ball rolling...

I'm working on a 70's band project so I'll need to program a lot of cool analog sounds over the next few months. Anyone want to collaborate?

On this collection, I have several sounds for Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend". I'll need to tweak the oscillator/filter/adsr just a bit, but the sounds are close. I need to add the "flutey" sound to this set. Also I have a patch for the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again". I need to tweak the oscillator and hope to add a S/H Filter just like Pete did. I found a video of him explaining and showing how he made that sound with a Lowery organ...very interesting. The sound for Styx's "Lorelie" is duophonic. Again, I'll need to fine tune the oscillator/filter to match up to the original sound, but my patch is getting closer. Then there's Foreigner's "Feels like the First Time", another one that needs some minor tweaking.

The R3 has most of the things I look for on analog synths. It took me a bit to figure out that PWM is handled a bit differently than typical, but that "multiply/divide" oscillator function is very powerful! Nice trick, Korg!

Let me know what you think of those patches and if you make some edits, I'd love to compare notes with you.

Cheers guys, i especially liked the lorelei patch, its great to just hear new sounds you wouldn't have tweaked or come across by yourself. I've been busy tweaking myself and have uploaded one patch, i have quite a few more in the pipeline but they're just not ready yet. Even the one i've loaded up needs some mod sequence/arpeggiator work done to it. But I've no idea how to describe it... its almost like a brassy stringy reverb pad, a bit old school too. See what you think, any feedback is greatly appreciated...

I'm enjoying my R3, but I wish it had more patch/mod destinations (like lfo delay) and perhaps a break point on the EG?! ANYWAYS...

I have a new set of patches that I'm working on focused on 70's songs I'm learning. It's a mixed bag of stuff that I'll be tweaking, if you edit some of these, I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks- I enjoyed your patch - I turned off the mod seq and made it poly, and just pulled down the fx a bit. That's the fun part, the same basic patch can be mangled to get a whole new sound! I'm very happy at the diversity of sounds this R3 can produce-rock on...

Thanks! I was needing that "synare" sound for Bad Company's "Rock and Roll Fantasy!

Your patch inspired me to finish my UbberKickTom (Don't kick Tom 'cause he's my friend) Project!! I'm sure I mispelled "Ubber", but the patch I came up with is kickin'! Thanks of course to sjaakeri. New patch here:

Alright kids, gather 'round. We needs a little bam and tam for our R3 synthys! Here's one for ya's.

This patch starts out with a simple sine wave. Ain't it lovely what a simple sine wave (or two) can evolve into? I added a second sine wave slightly detuned and some judicious and delicious (so called) noise. EG3 is patched to control pitch and Noise Level. This gives a bit of typically desirable pitch rolloff and some "stick" to the drums.

I then added velocity sensitivity to EG1 (Which is Filter Cutoff), EG2 (which is Volume Envelope), and EG3 (which is Pitch and Noise Level), and I added a Waveshaper SubOSC Sin to fatten the whole thing up. I used some Early Reflections and some Reverb FX and whala! Big Fat Toms and Kick. If you hold down the key after stricking the "drum", it will mute the drum!! I learned this trick from Ye Olde Yamaha DX7.

There's a few other things going on to create this sound but I think you get the idea! Enjoy.
