M3's (TFX) Stereo Tube Pre Amp Sounds Great !

Post by muziksculp »

Hi,

Here is a little tip...

I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but the M3's TFX effect (St. Tube PreAmp) sounds great.

Try applying it to your mix, to my ears it adds quite a bit of warmth, punch, and even improves the sound quality of many of the acoustic sounds such as strings, guitars, ...etc. they sound much more ALIVE and ORGANIC !

Adjust the gain parameter of both "Tube 1" and "Tube 2" to taste, and hear the difference.

I hope this is a helpful little tip, have fun with your M3. :soundsgood

You Are Very Welcome !

I'm glad that you like it.

By the way, if The Tube PreAmp is adding too much distortion (which is not a good thing), you can adjust some of the parameters to tame it. such as the gain amounts.

I have the wet/dry ratio set to (85:15), "tube1" gain at (+2 db) , and "tube2" gain at (+2.5 db). Tube2 output level at (- 0.5 db). adjust the other parameters to taste.

A little bit of tube distortion with the right amount of gain, and wet/dry signal can bring things to life, and add a lot of warmth to the sound. Too much distortion can ruin a good thing, so experimenting with the parameters is quite important to achieve good results, that's what I did.

I'm discovering many new interesting ways of enhancing the M3's overall sound. I will post any new tips I discover on this forum.

Enjoy Your M3 !

Yes it really sounds nice especially on drums (routed to a reverb). Ads that special something.

Hmm... This is interesting!

Technical Question Alert!!! :D

About this stereo tube effect - does the M3 employ a valve-tube (like the Extreme) somewhere within the keyboard for that effect? Pardon my ignorance...

No, there are no analog tubes in the M3 - only a digital simulation.

Yes, I discovered this effect a couple months ago. Now I use it as the TFX on all my tracks. Preset 2 is particularly nice.

Yeah, can anyone describe the sound of this effect compared to the actual tube in the Extreme?

I haven't had the chance to play with the M3 much, but I do enjoy the tube effect in my Extreme.
