Can anyone explain in detail the advantages of owning a MOSS board?

Well it's basically like owning a large slice of the KORG Z1, and stuffing it inside your Triton Extreme. It's an entire synth on it's own. Greats all sounds to sounds that range from right rude bass lines to screaming leads, to evolving warm tones.

Really, you need to check out the demo mp3 files. Then head to the download section right here at KORG Forums and see how many additional sounds you can download for free.

It's a great board.

Regards.
Sharp.

Hi
Its basically putting the classic Z1 engine inside your triton. The advantages are that it makes sounds like no other, and it takes your triton to the next level, its a killer synth, FM, but it also does physical modelling of acoustic instruments, guitars, e. pianos, reed, etc. + more.
Its a very very deep board, it involves a lot of programming to get the best out of it, so if youre into making your own sounds, this board is highly recommended.

There are very few things that deserve to be "a must". MOSS is one of them.
I don't have it, sadly as it can be, and can't find one to buy and I suffer each day when I listen MOSS samples from Nedim's web page.

Monte, if you can acquire MOSS, don't hesitate for a second.

But they are rather expensive these days - about 700 - 800 dollars, somebody said 400-500 on eBay. And probably will be even more expensive.

they're still resonably common on eBay.... I got one a couple of months back for £175GBP, and i can completely say it was well worth the extra cash. If you can get one, then do..it will transform your triton.

Even though i don't yet have a good knowledge of programming them you can get a lot out of the sounds that other people are kind enough to share \:D/

Now I know I have to have this one, although I don't know what a Z1 is.
Z1 was a stand alone board which MOSS was made from, sort of speaking. MOSS is just a expansion, but main functionality is the same, same physical modeling.

You won't make any mistake to buy any of them, MOSS is maybe more elegant because it's expansion board which you install in Extreme and don't have to carry two boards, but Z1 has some more functionalities than MOSS.

Try searching the net for it, so you can see what exactly are the differences between those two.

Here it is, Monte, Z1.

And this is MOSS.

So you can compare the two on your own.

tomleitch, MOSS requires lots of learning to get max of it, but to compare your sounds to Nedim's... wrong approach, man, don't do that.

Nedim knows everything there is to know about Extreme and MOSS, he knows MOSS even better.

He has three sets of MOSS sounds, I think, and some of them or all of them are available to buy, try his web page.

Regards, shrike
