16mb Flash Card Speeds?

I have just bought a 16mb Flash card for PA80 and noticed that it takes forever to load/save samples to it. It is more than twice the time of the 8mb flash cards I have...

Also Formatting the card takes "longer" than twice the 8mb card

Is this normal or is this just a poorly constructed Flash Card? can you get really slow ram chips in the flashcards?
