New Project im working on and need your opinions

Ok so currently ive been sampling voices from songs and I was thinking instead of making the voices a sample I should save them in the proper midi format and just load them as a song so i wont have to switch the sound bank on the TR and that way while im playing a song or beat i could just play the song which would infact contain the sample which on paper sounds good cause I would be able to use my synth sounds and just play the sample instead of multi samling on the keyboard and spliting a few keys as the sample and a few keys of the actualy instrument/sound i want. Does this sound like a good idea and one more thing someone told me if i wanted to do that i should make the sample an aiff file or akai file but when i do that it says illegall smf when i try to load it on the keyboard any suggestions?
