Anyone know why Padkontrol will not work with Cakewalk

Hi
Just got a padkontrol and have installed all drivers etc that came with it but it will not control any drum machines or softsynths in my DAW which is Cakewalk Homestudio 2004XL. Anyone got any ideas? I'd be very grateful
