Quick Sound Editor question

I just purchased a Microkorg, but I'm lacking a MIDI-interface.

My question is: can I edit the values in real-time in the sound editor? I'm new to synthesizers and most certainly won't know how the end result will sound if I don't get to hear it before I save the patches.

Can I strike a chord on the MK and hear the changes instantly or do I need to save the settings to the MK before I get to hear them?
