This is interesting as I always thought that the Triton classic hasn't got a internal battery.I have been told that when I first bought my classic that it doesn't have one.
Also when I gutted my Triton last year for cleaning there was no sign of a battery anywhere.
Now I'm wondering if some Tritons have batterys and some don't like the old Poly 800 where some have or not have batterys. My first poly had a battery where my second poly runs on normal batterys.
The same goes for the Karma and MS2000.no batterys.
The Triton Studio has got a calender battery that I know. The Trinity and Z1 have the dreaded soldered batterys.

Hi Synthia.
Trust me, it does indeed have one.
Pretty much everything from the M1 to the OASYS has a battery.

Hi Sharp,
I remember your thread about the dreaded batterys in the Trinity and Z1 now I'm worried is it the same with my Triton classic,Studio,Karma,MS2000 and even OASYS?Are these batterys solderd or clip in ones?Funny enough my Trinity and Z1 are still running on their orginal ones.
I have changed the clip in calender battery in my Studio last year which was no problem.Has the Studio got another one hidden away I wonder?
I'm looking inside my Karma tonight to see if there is a battery. Then I shall open my MS2000 to check as well.My Triton is away from me at the moment so I can't look inside it now.
The older Korgs like M1,01/WFD and Wavestation are so much easier as they all use clip in batterys.

Yep,I found no battery in my Triton either.I have opened many synths in my life and normally the battery is pretty easy to find but not so in the Triton.
So where on earth is this battery,I wonder?I can't see any battery in my Karma either.
Sharp,Do you know?
I do remember having a long talk with an engineer some years back and he assured me that most modern synths/workstations use flash memory instead of the older batterys. He also said that the Triton series,Karma,MS2000 etc use flash memory.I know Roland and Yamaha haven't used batterys for years now.The Fantom series,Motif series,V-Synth all run on flash memory.

Hi Synthia.
I don't know where it is exactly inside the Triton as that's not something I would bother remembering. My Brain is only so big
If it's not easily seen, then there is only once place where you will find it, and that's on the back of the motherboard.
All I can say for sure is that there IS one in there. Trust me, why else would anders see this error message in the first place

Anything that would require a replacement battery at this point would beed to be 5 or more years old, and there is an onslaught of them available on ebay.
As for the newer keyboards, I Roland and Yamaha's, I know nothing about them but it's highly unlikely that they are any different.
Regards.

Sorry but he would be very much so wrong on all that. Lithium batteries of this kind are used in countless electronic and musical devices. Not to mention every single PC in the world.I do remember having a long talk with an engineer some years back and he assured me that most modern synths/workstations use flash memory instead of the older batterys.

Hi Sharp,
you got me going here,I just finished opening my Karma and MS2000 and I can tell you there are no batterys in them.I looked in every hole and cranny.Unfortunatly my friend's got my Triton at the moment but as soon as it comes back to me I will gut the beast from top to bottom as this is puzzling me.
As you know I have alot of Korgs in my set up and to get them all done professionaly would cost me a bloody fortune so I really need to know if these batterys are the damn soldered ones.I'm flipping worried here
What about OASYS,has it also got a memory battery? Is it soldered?I now it has the calender battery.

Friends,
I was recently contacted by a fellow Triton owner about this question, and I'm puzzled by the responses in this thread. Is it possible that we're confusing different Triton models or something? Here's what the Triton Classic motherboard looks like (this is from the ProX Classic that I rebuilt from the ground up a few months ago) (sorry for the large size):

There is no CR2032, and there's no visible battery soldered anywhere here. It would make sense for the Triton Studio, and likely the Extreme to have a battery on the motherboard because they actually KEEP time, but the Triton Classic doesn't KEEP time, as in there is no clock running that updates the data and time like there is on my Extreme.
Just curious!
Thanks,
Russ
